About Engage-With-English
Aims
The website is for students of English as a second or foreign language. It is intended to be a way to engage with the language in depth. Here, the focus is not particularly on rules, but rather a look at what works and what doesn't and why.
Ability to use English can be regarded as a repertoire of skills. I would like this website to help people build their own personal repertoires and become confident in and comfortable with their abilities.
Key ideas
- To learn something well, we often need answers to very specific questions. The website uses a system of "micro-comments" to make getting these answers possible.
- In real life, what we choose to say and how we choose to say it is almost always more important than "English"
- Language is interesting, and so is what people say and write.
Services
- Classes: in person in Pamplona (Spain) and by video-call
- Text revisions and translations from Spanish (especially medical, scientific and technical publications)
- Preparation and rehearsal of presentations, speeches, interviews and oral exams
